Event Details
Date: August 22nd, 2025
Time: 9:00 AM (Preliminary Rounds) | 7:30 PM (Top 8 Finals)
Location: Heart of the Horse 2025, August 22nd–24th at the Cypress Centre in Medicine Hat, Alberta.
This high-energy competition showcases the best ranch horses in Canada, putting them through a rigorous test of skill, discipline, and cow sense.
Competition Format
Each competitor will be tested in the following challenges:
Reining Pattern (Pattern posted at the event)
Box/Fence/Open Arena Rope and Stop Cow
Entry Details
Entry Fee: $300
Includes: Two weekend passes to the entire Heart of the Horse event
Classes:
Ranch Class (Limited to those with $1,000 or less in cow horse earnings)
Open Class (For all competitors)
Prizes & Payouts
Top Prize: A stunning custom Brooks bit and headstall set for the winner of each class
Finals: The top 8 competitors will return for the finals at 7:30 PM
Cash Payout: Top 4 finalists will receive 70% of the entry pot
